In professional wrestling, wrestlers often exaggerate their weight by around 10%. Up until 2009, worldwide, if you were billed at under 100 kg, meaning around 90 kg in real weight, you were considered a light heavyweight.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, wrestlers generally announced their actual weight, and to be considered a heavyweight, you had to weigh at least 90 kg.
Here, in chronological order, are all the light heavyweights who were also dominant among heavyweights in major contexts up to 2009, considering all countries.
EVAN LEWIS, DAN MCLEOD, MARTIN "FARMER" BURNS: They were the most dominant wrestlers in the United States during the 1880s and 1890s, although the average weight of wrestlers in the USA was not particularly high during this period.
GHULAM MOHI UD DIN: He weighed 88 kg and, in the early 1900s, was one of the greatest Indian wrestlers of all time, surpassed only by The Great Gama, Imam Baksh, and Raheem Sultaniwala, whom he gave a lot of trouble.
CONSTANT LE BOUCHER: He was Belgian and, in the early 1900s, managed to defeat even a no-longer-young George Hackenschmidt, against whom he also lost and drew several times. At the time, Europe had many great champions in almost every country, and he was perhaps among the 10–15 most dominant wrestlers overall.
JOHN PESEK: From 1917 through the 1920s, in legitimate matches, he was the most dominant wrestler after Ed Lewis and is the strongest wrestler ever on this list.
EARL CADDOCK: From around 1917 to 1925, he was one of the greatest wrestlers in the United States, behind only Ed Lewis, John Pesek, and Joe Stecher.
JIM LONDOS: During the 1930s and 1940s, he was the No. 1 wrestler in the world and one of the most popular and profitable wrestlers for promoters of all time.
VERNE GAGNE: He was 2–3 kg short of being a heavyweight, but during the 1950s in the United States he was surpassed only by Lou Thesz, and during the 1960s only by Bruno Sammartino.
"BARON" MICHELE LEONE: The undisputed top champion in Los Angeles during the 1950s.
FRED BLASSIE: A World Champion in the WWA in Los Angeles, but also a major star throughout the United States and Japan.
GORGEOUS GEORGE: One of the most popular and influential American wrestlers of all time. He was only 2 kg short of being a heavyweight.
EL SANTO, BLUE DEMON: They were the most popular wrestlers in Mexico during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. In Mexico, weight was never a fundamental factor.
DANNY HODGE: He also achieved great success against heavyweights in the United States and Japan during the 1960s and 1970s.
TIGER MASK 1: In his few matches against heavyweights in 1981, 1982, and 1983, he performed very well.
EL HIJO DEL SANTO: A dominant figure in Mexico from the 1990s onward. The same applies to his father.
NAOMICHI MARUFUJI: World Heavyweight Champion in Japan.
KENTA: Dominant against heavyweights in Japan, just like Marufuji.
CHRIS BENOIT: He scored prestigious victories in WCW while he was still a junior heavyweight.
