The Great Gama is ranked first because he never lost in approximately 5,000 matches and defeated Stanislaus Zbyszko (who ranks on the same level as Randy Savage in my rankings) in just 42 seconds. Through this chain of comparisons, Hulk Hogan ranks only three tiers above Randy Savage.
George Hackenschmidt defeated a wrestler on Randy Savage's level five times out of five, which places him two tiers above Hulk Hogan.
Ivan Poddubny was superior to George Hackenschmidt because Hackenschmidt refused to face him in a Greco-Roman wrestling match. Frank Gotch defeated a past-his-prime Hackenschmidt, but at their respective peaks the gap between them would have been very small.
Ed Lewis was superior to Frank Gotch, while Joe Stecher was on the same level as Gotch.
Imam Baksh faced three of the same opponents as The Great Gama, but his superiority over them was less convincing. Gama is ranked three tiers above Raheem Sultaniwala because, in the three matches they both had against the same opponents while in their primes, Gama was consistently more dominant, even though he won only one of those matches.
Ultimate Warrior showed a slight edge over both Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker. When Hulk Hogan and André the Giant were both at their peak (1982–1983), they were evenly matched. In 1991, Hulk Hogan and Genichiro Tenryu were defeated by The Road Warriors. Hogan proved to be on their level, while Tenryu was slightly below them.
When Lou Thesz and Dara Singh were both in their prime, all of their matches ended in draws.
Goldberg proved to be slightly superior to Paul Wight ("The Giant"), placing him on the same level as Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker.
Ghulam ranked one tier below his student Raheem Sultaniwala, who became champion.
Ignoring outside interference, Ken Shamrock proved himself superior to Steve Austin.
Jim Londos does not make my top 20, even though during the 1930s and 1940s he lost only once—to the inferior Danno O'Mahony, against whom he never scored a victory. The reason is that during those years he did not face many legendary champions, and he frequently wrestled to draws against opponents who were considered below his level.
